About Owen & Associates
Owned and operated by Kelly Owen McCall and Shelly Owen, Owen & Associates has been providing reporting services in civil and criminal proceedings since 1992, in both the State and Federal courthouses, and served as the official provider locally from 1992 through 2011. That history gives our local clients and out-of-town clients the benefit of the knowledge of our local bench and bar and court procedures that out-of- town firms simply do not have.
Kelly Owen McCall is a Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) through the National Court Reporters Association and a Florida Professional Reporter (FPR-C) through the Florida Court Reporters Association. She is a full-time court reporter and has been a court reporter since 1984. As a member of FCRA, Kelly has served on the Board of Directors and various
committees over the years. She is currently the Chair for the Government Relations Committee,
and has represented FCRA with the Florida Bar, the Florida Legislature, and the Florida Supreme
Court. She had the honor of receiving the Emily Mann Distinguished Service Award from FCRA. Kelly has also served as co-speaker for Bar CEU seminars dealing with appellate procedure and reporter procedures.
Shelly Owen manages our office, schedule, and facilities. She has served as President and Legal Pad editor for the Marion County Legal Support Association. In her role as Education Seminar Chairperson for MCLSA, she was responsible for lining up speaker programs for Florida Bar CEUs, and, along with Kelly, conducted seminar classes on how attorneys can most
efficiently utilize stenographic reporters and control their costs. She also received the D.A.N.K.E. Award from the Florida Association of Legal Support Specialists.
Owen & Associates has always been and continues to be very active in our local legal community as well as our professional associations. We are strong advocates for the protection of the record and know the importance of keeping up-to-date on the rules and technology that govern our part of the legal process.

This allows for last-minute service changes, questions answered on local practice and procedure, and ease in billing.

Our firm’s full-time, full-service offices are directly across the street from the Marion County Judicial Center and one block from the Federal Courthouse, offering our clients five complimentary conference rooms, in-house videoconferencing and Skype suites, and mediation rental.

In a state where court reporters are not required to have any certification, our reporters and support staff are dedicated professionals, nationally and/or state certified, and experienced in our local procedures on both the State and Federal levels.
